5 Sanity-Saving Tips for Parents during Spring Break 2024

Spring Break is right around the corner, and even though our children may see it as a break from school or a normal sleep routine (yelp!), the week may not feel like a break to parents. Every parent wants to enjoy their children and if you plan to take time off from work or want to make this week less stressful, this post is for you!

Implementing a few strategies can ensure that everyone isn’t at each other’s throats!

  1. Budget-friendly places to visit in Staten Island

Wild Child Indoor Play- Rain or shine, Wild Child was designed to burn off that next level kid-energy. Our 6,000 square foot space includes a 3tier jungle gym, a custom one-of-kind kid town and a soft play for 24 months and under. Wild Child is for all ages up to 10! Making it your only destination for all ages on the island. Make sure to reserve your spot, Wild Child limits tickets per session to ensure the most comfortable and safest environment. Book your ticket through this link!

Visit the Staten Island Zoo- The Zoo is offering two events during Spring Break and it’s worth checking out if you want to stay local! On the 21st they are celebrating Earth Day with with a day filled with eco-friendly activities and conservation talks that highlight our planet’s beauty and the importance of protecting its diverse wildlife. On the 28th, they will be having Farm Day! A day for sheep shearing thrills and uncovering the secrets behind how the zoo cares for animals that call Children’s Center home. Both are free with an admission ticket. Visit Staten Island Zoo’s website for more details

Staten Island Botanical Garden at Snug Harbor- The New York Chinese Scholar’s garden is one of two authentic classical outdoor Chinese gardens built in the United States. This the latest attraction at the Botantical Garden and a must see for nature lovers! Visit S.I’s Botantical Garden for more details

  2. You can have fun without a special trip or to Disney!

Traveling is expensive! Plan an easy but fun day trip by visiting a state park, garden or zoo. All these adventures are nearby and easy to navigate.

  3. Spend time with Family and Friends

The hustle and bustle of everyday life sometimes gets the best of us and we try our best to connect with loved ones. Extending an invite to a family member or one of your kid’s friends offers you time to socialize with others especially since the days will feel longer during spring break!

  4. Find a babysitter

Take time out for yourself?! Or go on out on a date?! What’s that like?! Planning ahead and ensuring a day or night out will have your future self thanking you. If finding a babysitter isn’t an option, opt for a night out while the other parent stays home and alternating! This turn-based approach gives each parent a stress-free night.
